Rissa is a mother of two school-aged children. She is from Calamba, Misamis Occidental, Philippines where her retail store is located. This has allowed her to have a monthly income of PHP 8,000, part of which comes from impermanent jobs. She has been operating the store for four years and is so glad to have reached that far despite an increasing number of competitors.
A loan of PHP 6,000 from GDMPC will help Rissa to purchase small-sized showcases to organize her stock and determine goods easily. She hopes to obtain a good profit from this investment and maintain a good flow of earnings from the business. She aspires to send her children to a reputable school when they get into college to obtain a proper education and build a brighter future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
