Huot is a resident of the Siem Riep Province. Agriculture is the main business activity that occurs in this area. Most of the residents of this region are both rice growers and livestock breeders. Huot is a pig raiser. She has been in this business for three years. From this business, she earns about $7 each day. She is married and has four children, three of them living with her and another child who has already married and lives in a separate house.
To earn a living, Huot would like to request a loan through HKL, a Kiva partner. She will use this loan to purchase piglets and feed. She said that this loan is very useful for her family.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
