Mariam is a 21-year-old Lebanese single woman living with her father. After her mother’s death, which was the most terrible accident she had to face, Mariam was forced to move on with her life because she found herself the main person responsible for the family. In 2009, she decided to open her own restaurant where she started to produce delicious traditional Lebanese breakfast and drills. With her requested loan of $1,200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l, she will be able to increase her inventory of food products and provisions. She works hard to support her older father. In the future, she is hoping to further expand her business and earn a higher income.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
