Georges is a 46-year-old married man living with his wife and two school-aged children. He is from Lebanon. He has 22 years of experience selling photocopiers. He also performs the needed maintenance on damaged ones. In parallel, and in addition to his photocopy shop, he has owned a small mini market since 1998. His wife works in a local supermarket to help provide the family with extra financial support. George’s unstable situation is not such a positive indication for him to improve his family’s standards of living. So today, he is asking to borrow $1,500 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to increase his purchases of new photocopiers in order to increase his business sales and therefore his income. His main purpose is to be able to satisfy his family's needs.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
