Donovan
Donovan is a native New Orleanian who has always aspired to be an entrepreneur. In 2004, he started Infinity D&T Trucking, LLC, which transports freight and building supplies to several businesses in the Gulf Coast region. Donovan’s trucking business was flourishing until August 29, 2005, when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans. Donovan's business lost employees and customers and was forced to evacuate to Texas and later Virginia before returning to New Orleans.
Although it was a difficult process to come back home, this unimaginable event only fueled Donovan’s desire to be a successful entrepreneur. Today, Infinity D&T Trucking has acquired subcontractor projects with well-known construction companies and Donovan is currently expanding his business to transport patients to doctor’s appointments. With the Kiva loan, Donovan will have maintenance done on two passenger vans to ensure safe and reliable transportation services are accessible to fixed-income residents.

About ASI Federal Credit Union

ASI Federal Credit Union has been experiencing an increased rate of defaults. This is possibly related to the experimental nature of the loan products the organization provides. In order to serve asset-poor communities in New Orleans -- including many still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and the BP Oil Spill -- ASI offers loan products designed to help people start and grow businesses even if they don't have extensive collateral, credit histories, or business experience. For these reasons, these loans also carry a higher level of risk than typical loans on Kiva.
