Twelve friends and neighbors from the city of San Lorenzo came together with the goal of generating more income for their families. The women describe themselves as hardworking, fighters and, above all, very responsible. Their greatest desire is to provide their children and their families with everything that they were not able to access.

Señora Claudia makes her living in clothing sales. She says that this is her specialty because sales are her thing and she has a well-defined clientele as she has been in this business for some time. In the not-so-distant future, she would like to have her own store in her home where she could sell all of the garments she has.

She comments that she has a great demand for winter clothing because it is the cold season. She is requesting this loan so that she will be able to purchase winter garments like jackets, scarves, gloves, socks, sweat shirts and the like to satisfy her clients' demand. She thanks the Fundación for the opportunity it has given her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
