Qabil, 46 years old, is married and has three children. Five years ago, Qabil decided to start his own business selling carpets and dowry items. He began the business with his hard earned savings as he had always wanted to be an entrepreneur. He is familiar with this business and provides good customer service. Qabil's shop is located in the central bazaar of Sabirabad. His monthly income is 200 AZN and his son actively helps him. Qabil has many clients and his business keeps growing. In order to increase the range of his carpets, Qabil is requesting a loan of 600 AZN, which he will use to purchase more inventory.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
