Jeanny is 29 years old and from Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is a single lady who has been able to manage corn production. It was hard for Jeanny at first to cope with it, but by and by, she got to love it. Now she is interested in doing the job assigned. She has been told by her parents to manage the agricultural business of the family in order to practice and enhance her skills in running a business. A successful entrepreneur starts small. Every month, she gets an estimated total of PHP 10,000.
Earlier this year, Jeanny joined GDMPC to be able to use financial services. Her first loan of PHP 12,000 will be used to compensate labor costs for weeding and for the purchase of some fertilizers. She expects to reap a good harvest and will invest in business expansion from the expected revenue to be generated.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
