Anjelina is aged 40 years, and has been in mixed farming for five years in her rural home town of Kitale, Western Kenya. She is married with one child aged 15 and currently employs one farmhand. Her produce of maize and milk are sold locally.
Anjelina has made a loan request of 30,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help her construct a bigger poultry unit for her birds. She says the house will protect her birds and yield better income that will uplift her family. She remains optimistic she will earn enough income and add more cows to her dairy unit.
Anjelina says finding feeds during dry seasons is a challenge.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
