Elsa is 46 years old and lives in San Lorenzo in the Esmeraldas Province in northern Ecuador. She lives with her husband and her five children, aged 16, 11, 6, 4 and 1 year old. She considers herself to be a very humble woman, who is affectionate with her children and likes to help her husband with what she can around the house.
She works in a small shop that does not have much merchandise because she does not have the money to buy the necessary products.
This is her first time applying for a loan through FODEMI. The loan she is requesting is to buy merchandise, as she wants to stock up her store with all kinds of food.
Her dream is to grow her store, and to see that she has everything she needs to have her store and so improve her income, while improving the quality of life for her and her family with a good diet.
She also wants to provide her children with a good education for their children.

Trabaja en una pequeña tienda que no tiene mucha mercadería porque no tiene dinero para comprar los productos necesarios, es la primera vez que le solicita créditos a FODEMI, el crédito que solicita es para la compra de mercadería porque quiere abastecer su tienda de todo tipo de vìveres.
Su sueño es ver crecer su tienda, ver que tenga todo lo necesario que debe tener una tienda y así mejorar sus ingresos, a la vez mejorar la calidad de vida de ella y su familia con una buen alimentación.
También quiere darles una buena educación a sus hijos.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
