Nato is 50 years old and lives with her husband Tamaz and her mother-in-law, who is 83 years old and retired. She is from Samtredia, Imereti District. The family’s only income source is their agricultural activities. Nato and her family have a small dairy farm with three milk cows and she produces an average of 45 kilograms of traditional Georgian cheese each month to sell on the local open market. The family also has a small pig farm with two pigs and they sell piglets each month. Nato and Tamaz feed their domestic animals mainly with maize that is cultivated on their one hectare of land. The family’s total income, including the pension of Nato’s mother-in-law, is 950 GEL.
Nato is requesting a loan to purchase an additional milk cow to produce and sell more cheese to increase her income. She hopes that when their income increases, she will be able to save some funds to renovate her kitchen to have better conditions for making cheese.
