Clara is from the village Pirveli Maisi, Samegrelo Region. She is 52 years old, unmarried and lives with her family: 41-year-old brother and parents (retired). Clara and her brother are leading the agro business of the family, which is the main source of income for them. In particular, the family has 3 milk cows. Clara produces, on average, 60 kg of cheese per month. She sells it on the local open market. Also, they own a pig and sell approximately 10 piglets per year. Along with the above-mentioned, Clara and her brother have 1 hectare of land where maize is grown. One ton of the harvested corn is sold on local market and the remaining 2 tons are used for feeding the livestock.
Along with the above-mentioned, Clara has a small trade business. She brings seasonal clothes from Tbilisi wholesale market to the village and sells them. She brings the new clothes with the value of 200 – 300 GEL twice a month. Her monthly profit from this business is 200 – 250 GEL per month.
Clara requested credit for purchasing additional clothes for resale. She will purchase more clothes and offer a wider assortment to the villagers. Also purchasing the clothes in larger amounts will allow her to save transportation costs. Clara will get more profit and will be able to make some savings, because in the near future she will need to change the roof of the house.
