Abida has two sons. Both of them are illiterate because Abida couldn’t afford their education. The eldest one is 19 years old and a driver by profession, while the younger one is 16 years old and doesn’t do anything. Her husband has a tractor workshop. He offers tractor spare parts and engine repairing services to his clients. He is very expert in his work and his clients trust him due to the quality of his work. Abida works as a seamstress on a part-time basis. Her first priority is doing her household responsibilities as a housewife and afterward she works for her neighboring clients.

Abida has applied for a loan from Kiva's partner, Asasah, for her husband because he wants to buy repairing tools to be able to provide better quality repairing services to his clients. Abida is hopeful that an investment will help her husband make his business better and provide better financial security for the family. She is a new client of Asasah and this is her first loan application.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
