The “Caritas Alegres” (Cheerful Little Faces) communal bank has 11 members who are friends and have known each other for many years. They work in different activities in one of the city’s markets. These activities have made it possible for them to improve economically. They live in different parts of the city of Cuenca. This city has a beautiful colonial structure, a varied cuisine; its residents are kind and cordial and maintain their culture and traditions.

One of the group members is María Adelina. She lives in Turi Parish and is 59 years old. She’s separated and has five children who are all adults now, married and independent. She owns the house she lives in.

She sells fruit and vegetables, an activity she’s been carrying out for 27 years. She has a stand of her own and she works from Sunday to Sunday with no set work schedule. At home, she raises chickens and guinea pigs and also farms. She sells the vegetables she grows in her stand in the market.

She is rejoining the communal bank and will use her new loan to buy fruit and vegetables to have a better variety available for her demanding clientele. Her goal is to continue growing in her business.

El banco comunal Caritas Alegres está conformado por 11 socias, quienes son amigas y conocidas hace muchos, laboran en diferentes actividades en un mercado de la ciudad, estas actividades les han permitido mejorar económicamente, viven en diferentes lugares de la ciudad de Cuenca, esta ciudad cuenta con una hermosa estructura colonial, una gran variedad en su gastronomía, su gente es amable y cordial quienes mantienen su cultura y tradiciones.

Una de las integrantes de este grupo es la Señora María Adelina, vive por los alrededores de la parroquia Turi, tiene 59 años, está separada y ha concebido 5 hijos quienes son mayores de edad, casados e independientes. La casa en la que habita es de su propiedad.

Nuestra socia se dedica a la venta de frutas y verduras, actividad que la desempeña hace 27 años, tiene un puesto propio y trabaja de domingo a domingo sin un horario fijo. En su casa se dedica a la cría de gallinas y cuyes, también se dedica a la agricultura y las verduras que siembra las vende en su puesto del mercado.

En el banco comunal esta reingresando y su nuevo crédito lo va a invertir en la compra de frutas y verduras para tener una mejor variedad para su exigente clientela.

Su meta es seguir creciendo en su negocio.
