Damaris Carolina is 28 years old. She has a miscellany shop where she stocks a wide variety of products. Most of her customers come by to buy what she has in stock. She’s had this way of earning a livelihood for the last 12 years.
Damaris has two minor children in her care; it’s her responsibility to provide them with food, clothing and schooling. She rises early to start working every day. The loan is to buy sandals, sports shoes and slippers, among others.

Hace más de 12 años que tiene este medio de vida, Damaris tiene 2 hijos menores de edad a su cargo ella tiene la responsabilidad de proporcionarle alimentos, vestimenta y estudios. Ella se levanta temprano para empezar su labor todos los días. El crédito es para la compra de sandalias, zapatos deportivos, zapatillas entre otros.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
