Najwa is a 47-year-old Lebanese widowed woman living with her two children. She specializes in preparing delicious homemade food, which she sells to customers from her community. She has been involved in this type of business since 2006. In parallel, she works in a local hospital in order to earn superior income. She has been working so hard to support her family, especially after the death of her husband. Today, she is requesting to borrow $1,200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase a new oven and renew her cooking tools. In the future, she would like to rent out a small space to sell her popular homemade food products.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
