Romulino is 46 years old. He is a single man dealing with his 2 grown children. The family is living in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. While not the only means of income, Romulino has engaged in raising domestic animals - swine, in particular. He has been feeding, cleaning and taking good care of these animals for 2 years. He sells the grown ones to swine buyers for a good price. Every month, he normally receives about PHP 22,920.
Earlier this year, Romulino joined GDMPC. He has requested a loan of PHP 25,000 from the organization to purchase swine for fattening and materials to repair their shelter. Romulino hopes to sell the current raised pigs at a higher price and have more piglets to grow later.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
