He is known for his top-drawer metallic fabricated tools. He makes metallic knives, doors, frying pans and many other metallic objects. To be ahead of the rest of the pack in this business, he has employed many youth to help him to fabricate many of these metallic tools on a daily basis. He is a stickler for perfection, so everything the youth fabricate has to be top notch.
Welcome to the world of 45-year-old Abubaker, a laid-back, humble and diligent father of 8. His 16-year-old business has been reckoned as among one of the best from where he operates in Jinja in central Uganda. Abubaker, however, says it has not been an easy and royal road to the success he has achieved. Not resting on his laurels has been one of his invaluable stock-in-trade.
Abubaker says he has had to bear with many problems to reach where he is. Casting his mind back, he says he often lacked finances to make purchases of more iron. He says he is still saddled with the same problem on occasion. Making the best out of his bad bargains is a stock-in-trade he has banked on to steer clear of this adversity.
On the side, Abubaker also ekes out additional income from a commercial motorcycle transportation business.
He says this business generates him monthly income to the tune of 97,000 Ugandan shillings.
With this Kiva loan, he says he intends to purchase more iron to make more knives, doors and other metallic products to resell.
