Willyn, whose picture appears above, is 32 years old. She is married and is taking good care of her three school-aged children. She works for a living in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. Willyn noticed the booming demand for Avon products in this place. This, then, gave her the idea of becoming an Avon dealer, which she started five years ago. She earns a total of 3,000 PHP per month from this buying and selling business activity. Willyn enjoys this kind of job – moreover it enhances and develops her selling skills.
Willyn joined Kiva partner, GDMPC, earlier this year. Her loan application for 4,000 PHP has been approved. With this amount, Willyn can now order additional Avon products to sell in her neighborhood and in neighboring communities. She hopes to have more revenue so she can start ordering larger numbers of the most demanded items.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
