Vania is 32 years old and the single mother of one daughter who is one-and-a-half years old. She has just recently started a business in which she sells crafts such as dolls, mirrors, and knitted blankets and hats. She is asking for a loan in order to jump-start her business and purchase various crafts such as blankets, hats, little dolls, and ornamented mirrors. She is excited about her new business and desires for it to be very successful. Vania is committed to making all of the necessary loan payments on time.

Asociación Arariwa is a large non-governmental organization that started offering microcredit in 1994 to improve the quality of life, skills and equity of the population in the rural Cusco region of Peru. Arariwa serves the southern Andean provinces of Peru, and is distinguished by its efforts to reach the very poor, who often live in isolated rural areas. Arariwa fosters village banking, supports savings accounts, promotes access to education, and empowers women entrepreneurs (who make up 78% of its borrowers).
