Esterlita is a 31-year-old woman, married and humbly residing in Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is blessed to have three children with her. She grows corn and bananas to earn a living. After 10 years of handling this work, she finds it tiresome but enjoyable. She gets a monthly income of PHP 3,000 from this activity. Esterlita has requested a loan of PHP 5,000 to purchase fertilizers for the corn. She has been connected with GDMPC for a year. She plans to buy a lot in the future to extend the farming area and gain more income from it.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
