Déo was born in Rwanda. He is a member of the motorcycle taxi cooperative Abahuza. He is 46 years of age, married, and the father of six children aged between 11 and 20 years old. He completed four years of primary school.

This is his third loan cycle with ACB. He will buy a motorcycle to be used for taxi transportation. There should be no difficulties in repaying the loan.

His business growth strategy is to improve the quality of his service in order to increase his customer base. His goal is to someday have an automobile taxi, build houses for his family, and provide for his children’s tuition and healthcare.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
