Prom is the big head of a family in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. For improving his financial status, he works driving a motorbike in this province everyday. He can earn about $3 per day to give to his wife. His wife isn't lazy, she works raising animals like ducks, chickens and pigs. They have birthed five kids; a big family, very happy. To assist their efforts, Mr. Prom wishes to borrow some funds to sponsor his family, about $1,000, in order to purchase a new motorbike.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
