Dora
Quillabamba is the capital of La Convención province and an important commercial center for the Lares and La Convención valleys. The main business activities here are coca, coffee, cacao and fruit production.

In the town of Quillabamba, we visit the "Los Corazones Valientes de Morro San Juan" community bank and meet Dora who tells us:

"I was born in the town of Quillabamba. I am 49 years old and a widow. I have three children and live in the town where I was born. My main business activity is working as a cook".

Dora is a tenacious and entrepreneurial woman who, in spite of life's adversities, is managing to get her children ahead in life. She works in a relative's home cooking. She has been in this business for one year and it is doing very well. On this occasion, she needs a loan for personal use. She will pay the transportation costs between her home and the place where she works. She spends 4 Peruvian soles a day on this. Dora's dream is to open a restaurant.
