A loan of $375 helped to purchase supplies for making chicha; and barnyard birds.

Maria Maritza's story

Maritza is 27. She is the married mother of a little 6-month-old baby. Maritza lives in a small rural community belonging to the Catacaos district in Piura. This district is known for being an area with many smithies, and for the good food one can find there.

Maritza is an enterprising woman who makes and sells Chicha de Jora. This is a fermented drink with a Jora corn base, favoured in northern Peru. Maritza has done this work in her own home for four years, and has an established customer base in her neighbourhood.

Maritza is requesting a loan of 1000 soles from Edpyme Alternativa for the purchase of the required supplies for making the Chicha; as well as flour, and corn. Furthermore, part of this loan will be used to buy barnyard birds, which she will start raising in order to obtain an additional income.

Maritza has a great desire to succeed. She wants to develop her business enough to give her little child a good life and education. This loan will be a great help to her.
