Dorreny has been practicing mixed farming in her home area of Kitale, Western Kenya for the last 6 years. Her farm produces milk, eggs and vegetables which are sold locally. She is married with 4 children, all in school.
Dorreny has requested for a loan of 61,200 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow at 31,200 KES and buy poultry birds at 30,000 KES. She says the milk will supplement their daily meals and the additional income will meet family's basic requirements. Dorreny laments about the high costs of artificial insemination and animal feeds.
