Peninah is a married woman with three children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is the purchase of chicken feed.
For the past year, she has operated a retail shop business selling at the market to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of competition from other retail shop operators. She dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.
With the KSHS 15,000, she wants to purchase chicks and chicken feed to start a poultry business. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
