Zoya's Group
In this Group: Zoya, Joldoshbek, Shaiyrkul
According to top designers of Kyrgyztan, the textile industry of the country has an extreme need for human resources. There are many designers, who are generators of ideas and low-level seamstresses, who execute the intended idea. However, very often both sides face misunderstandings which are caused by the absence of a middle linkage between them. The industry is in need of mid-level employees who would interpret top designers' ideas into small tasks for seamstresses.

Zoya, 53, is the leader of this group. She is one of those linkage employees who are critically important for any business. Zoya is married and has been providing private sewing and designing services for two years. She acquired these skills while working for a local fashion house. Her business was started with the purchase of a sewing machine for 10,000 soms. This equipment is Zoya's main asset and helps create hundreds of looks. A monthly profit is around 6,000 soms (~$135); however, a very small part of it is saved for the purchase of additional equipment. Zoya would like to use the loan for the purchase of a new type of sewing machine that would definitely improve the quality of her clothing.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
