Elizabeth Del Carmen
34 year old Elizabeth lives in the city of Barranquilla with her husband and 3 of their 5 children, who are aged from 2 to 19 years old. The two oldest kids are now independent. Elizabeth started her business selling goods on her own initiative and with no experience, and with training and support from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, she took the risk and started her own adventure. This is her first Kiva loan, and she will use it to buy shoes and a display case to show her merchandise in an ordered way so that her growing clientele can enjoy looking at things and immediately buy them. Her long term goal is to buy goods in greater volume so she can get good discounts and continue growing the business until she is able to convert her micro-enterprise into a source of employment for the community. The greatest challenge that Elizabeth faces is being able to support her children so that they become successful, and this is her greatest dream.
