Raul is from the village of Zanati, West Georgia. He is 46 years old and lives with his wife, Irma. Raul works as a construction worker in the village, when there are orders. Also, he is involved in the family agricultural business. They have two milk cows and three calves, and produce and sell 35 kg of cheese per month at a local open market. Also, Raul and Irma have a pig and sell 12-16 piglets per year. Along with the above, Raul grows bamboo trees on a family-owned 0.5 hectare plot. He sells 500-600 bamboo poles per year, which are used for furniture production. The average total monthly income of the family is 550 laris.
With the requested loan, Raul plans to purchase a car. He will use it for transportation of the family farm products (cheese and bamboos) to nearby towns, where he can sell them for a higher price than locally in the village. It will positively impact the income of the family. Raul and Irma will use the increase in income for house renovation.
