Mrs. Ven is a 30-year-old married woman. She now lives in Prey Chor district. Mrs. Ven and her husband have done most of their business as local farmers. They can earn $2.50 per day to use for the family expenses. They have two single children who are still learning in school. Mrs. Ven is asking for a loan to buy fertilizers and to pay for the plowing costs she hired.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
