Aqshin A. is a 38-year-old trader who sells electronic supplies and small car spare parts in a small village in Imishli region. He is married and has three children. He has five years of experience in selling electronic supplies, but he needs to expand his business so he can meet the growing family expenses as his children get older. He is requesting $1200 to invest in his business and improve the financial conditions of his family.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
