The 'San Cayetano' committee is from the city of Concepción. It is made up of 13 women from the city. They are on their second loan cycle within the program, working in a supportive manner, in a framework of respect and cooperation. What motivated them to form their committee was the idea of doing something good for their families.

The ladies tell us that they work very hard to achieve all of the goals that they set themselves. They also say that everything they do is done to make a little extra income for their families so that they can enjoy a better future.

Nancy sells bedspreads, sheets, pillowcases, comforters and other items. Thanks to this work, which she has been doing for several years now, she is able to cover her household expenses. She is very proud of what she does as she considers it to be decent and honest work. She dreams of some day being able to have premises where she can sell her merchandise.

Nancy is requesting this loan to buy bedspreads, comforters and other items so that she can stock her business for this winter season.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
