Amiran is from the village of Manavi in the Kakheti Region. He is 49 years old and lives with his wife Maya and mother in law, who is retired.
Amiran has some health problems and receives relevant social assistance from the government, but still he is actively involved in operations at the family owned dairy farm. Amiran and Maya own 3 milk cows. They sell yogurt, cheese and milk in their and nearby villages. They have loyal customers as their dairy products are well-known by good quality. The family has 30 years experience in dairy farming.
Amiran has requested a loan to purchase 2 additional milk cows. The family will be able to sell approximately 60% more dairy products. This will have a positive impact on the family’s income.
Amiran and Maya plan to reinvest the expected increase in income in further expansion of the dairy farm.
