Her business came about as she had the opportunity to learn thanks to some acquaintances who taught her how to weave. Now she tells us that twice a week she gives weaving classes in her home. Through her efforts, Yda has been able to proviD. her children with an education and improve her home. Yda's wish is to finish building her home so that she can rent out rooms and fit out a space in which she can carry out her weaving.

With this loan, Yda is planning to buy thread and yarn in larger quantities as it works out cheaper that way. Yda and her "Virgen D. Chapi D. Yanacoto" community bank are very happy with the Prosperidad Program. In the photo, Yda is the lady wearing the green-striped sweater.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
