Josie is 39 years old and lives in Palayan, Aloran, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is married and a mother of two school-aged children. Josie is a farmer. She owns and operates a business planting and selling peanuts in the local community .She has been engaged in an inter-cropping system, growing coconut and fruit trees while, at the same time, planting peanuts for over five years. She has requested a loan of PHP 30,000 to pay labor costs for land preparation and to purchase peanut seeds and fertilizers.
Josie has been a member of GDMPC for one year. In the future, Josie hopes to gain more income from this production and purchase more space for her plantation.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
