The photograph shows Mrs. Pham who lives in the Siem Reap Province. Mrs. Pham makes her daily revenue by working as a local farmer in the village. Her husband is employed as a policeman in his community and he gets a monthly salary. This couple has given birth to an only child who is single and living under their care. Mrs. Pham will use the loan from Kiva to purchase a motorcycle for her husband to ride to work as his existing one is now broken.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
