The members of the “Amigos Por Siempre” communal bank meet every two weeks in the Portoviejo citadel. They’re involved in different activities, such as general business, services, among other things. They joined efforts in order to be able take advantage of the benefits offered by Fundación Espoir. This will be the communal bank’s first cycle and they hope to finish it well and continue ahead with the institution.

Here we meet Angela. She’s 33 years old and is the single mother of two children, ages 14 and 1. The oldest attends school. She has her own home, where she and her children live. She studied young at the De Manabí Technical University.

She works at the children’s center and provides the best care to the little ones who arrive here, while their mothers go to their respective jobs. Besides this, she also sells Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women’s accessories) and undergarments. She works her sales on the weekends because she works at the daycare center Monday through Friday. She sells her products on credit and makes weekly collections. She’s been doing this for two years and things are going well for her.

She will use the money from this loan to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, and undergarments. This will be her first cycle with the communal bank and she likes it because the loans are easy to obtain.

Someday she hopes to have her own boutique.
