Lorna has a food vending business to earn a living. She also has a second business selling dried fish and clothing. Her main source of income comes from selling barbecued food in her community. She has been in this type of business for 25 years. She earns approximately 10,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) each month from these activities.
Lorna is 46 years old and lives in the village of Segatic Daku, Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is married and the mother of two school-age children.
Lorna has requested a loan of 15,000 PHP from GDMPC to purchase raw ingredients to barbecue and purchase kitchen utensils for food preparation. She has been a member of GDMPC for one year. In the future, Lorna hopes to expand her barbecue vending and have a stall in the city for food vending.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
