Saumu is a married woman with three children. Two attend school while one is still young for school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for the family.
Saumu has operated a business selling natural fruit juices, like mango juice and banana juice. She sells from home to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. She dreams of opening more businesses in the future.
With the Kshs 40,000, Saumu wants to purchase sacks of mangoes, bananas and sugar. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
