Esmeralda Perpetua
Esmeralda, 43, lives in an urban zone in Las Orquídeas (so called because originally there were many orchids there) in Guayaquil. She is a hard working person determined to get ahead since she separated from her husband with her three children who are 16, 9 and 10 years of age. She decided to open a beauty salon.

She started 20 years ago doing everything related to beauty before she was married but for the last four years since separating she restarted her activity to earn more income and support her children. She works alone from 10am until 9pm in her stall. She does haircuts, hair coloring and pedicures.

A difficulty she has is that her customers have to travel a bit to get to her so she wants to set herself up on the main road to attract more customers. With help from the loan she wants to buy more hair coloring, various nail polishes and to equip her locale. In the future she’d like to put her salon in a better location.
