Jackie is 21 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kampala central region of Uganda. She is single and has one child who is not currently in school.
Jackie has a beauty salon business, which she has had for three years.
To help expand her business, Jackie has requested a loan of 300,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase hair braids for resale. With the help of the loan from BRAC, Jackie hopes to generate greater profits and take care of herself like buying new clothes.
In the future, Jackie hopes to expand her business into a bigger beauty salon. Jackie is a member of BRAC’s Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program, which has helped her prospects for the future by teaching her to be hard working and know that she has to repay the money.
