Flor De Itapuami Group's story

Gilda is an enterprising woman, the mother of a daughter and member of the Flor de Itapaumi loan group. Currently, she operates a store from her house, an activity she decided to undertake to be able to work from home, organize her time, and closely accompany her daughter's growth. Before she began this business, she worked selling shaved ice. However, thanks to joining the loan group she managed to take an important step, which was opening her own store and beginning to build a more stable source of income for her family.

With effort and commitment, Gilda works each day to strengthen her enterprise. Her dream is to have a more secure and prosperous business, which will allow her to improve her quality of life and offer her daughter better opportunities. To advance toward this goal, with the current loan she plans to invest in staple products such as milk, sugar, baked goods, seasonings, vegetables, flour, rice, noodles, eggs, oil, and more. This investment will allow her to keep her retail space well-stocked and respond to her community's demand.

The other group members also develop various enterprises, such as selling shaved ice, cleaning products and clothing. Some operate stores, among other activities which sustain their families.
