David is 44 years old and has been in mixed farming for 10 years in his hometown of Eldoret, North Rift Kenya. He is married with six children between the ages of 5 and 16 years old. His farm produces maize, beans and milk. David also trades animals for additional income.
David has requested a loan of 52,000 KES from Kiva's partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says the additional cow will mean more disposable income for his family's needs. He says he will only be rearing pedigree cows in the future for better production.
David mentions unpredictable weather conditions as the major challenge in his area for farming.
