Teddy's story

Teddy is 38 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the central region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 5 years, Teddy has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like dresses, tops, and bottoms as well as a mobile money transaction. To help expand her business, Teddy has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable dresses, tops, and bottoms for resale, and will help Teddy to generate greater profits and manage to provide some basic needs and food for her family. Teddy hopes that in the future she will be able to become a powerful businesswoman and own a big shop in town. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small group members like her who do not have the collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
