Maryeliza's story

My journey into the culinary world is rooted in the vibrant flavors of my heritage and a deep-seated love for my hometown of Manta, Ecuador. Growing up in a coastal city known for its incredible seafood, I learned early on that food is the heartbeat of a community. When I moved to Hawaii as a military spouse, I realized there was a beautiful opportunity to bridge the two homes I had. I felt a strong calling to bring the authentic cultural heritage and unique coastal flavors of Manta to the islands, sharing the traditional Ecuadorian-style ceviche that I grew up with.

What motivates me is the challenge of blending these traditional South American recipes with the incredible resources available here in Hawaii. I am deeply committed to sourcing our ingredients locally, partnering with Hawaii’s farmers and artisan makers to ensure every dish is fresh and supports our local ecosystem. This connection between my Ecuadorian roots and my new Hawaiian community is what drives my passion for Manta’s Ceviche every day.

For me, this business is about more than just serving high-quality meals; it is about creating a platform for cultural exchange and economic opportunity. I am inspired by the hardworking families I meet in our local markets and on military bases who have the same entrepreneurial spirit I do. My goal is to build a business that not only honors my heritage but also creates a pathway for others to share their own unique stories through food. By investing in Manta's Ceviche, you are supporting a mission to celebrate global culture through local sustainability and community empowerment.
