Ama
Ms. Ama A. was born in 1958 in Lomé as the fifth of eight children in a poor family. This abundance of children prevented her parents from sending her to school, requiring her to work small jobs from a young age. She is a married mother of four children. Her husband also has no education and is without steady employment. It is thus his wife who has opened a small restaurant and who is responsible for all of the family's expenses. This restaurant featuring local dishes was opened thanks to $200 in financial support that was obtained and promptly repaid.

As her customers are increasing in number and becoming more demanding, Ms. A. is requesting a loan of $900 to remodel her restaurant, buy a freezer and build a stock of foodstuffs. It is clear that the successful completion of this project will increase Ama's income and will contribute to an improvement in her family's economic and social conditions.
