A loan of $1,625 helps to buy more alcohol to sell.

Esther's story
Esther is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children, 4 of them are currently in school.
For the past 10 years, Esther has been working hard to manage her bar, which sells alcohol. To help expand her business, Esther has requested a loan of 6,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more alcohol to sell. This will help Esther to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living.
Esther hopes that she will be able to buy land in the future. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have the collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
