Asiya
A loan of $575 helps to buy more weaves and braids.

Asiya's story
Asiya is 46 years old and lives in the town of Gayaza, in the Gayaza region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, with three of them currently in school. For the past eight years, Asiya has been working hard to manage her salon, food stall and piggery, through which she styles and plaits hair, sells raw food and rears pigs.
To help expand her business, Asiya has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more weaves and braids for styling hair, as well as raw food and pigs to sell, and will help Asiya to generate greater profits and expand her business.
Asiya hopes that in the future she will be able to construct rental units. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have the collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
