Mujeres De Buena Fe Malacatan Group's story

For Kenia getting an education opens doors and creates opportunities.  Even though she had to pause her education she has decided to return next year, convinced that it will help her give her daughter a better future.

Kenia is 24 years old, in a relationship and has a three-year-old daughter.  She got as far as first year in secondary school but had to leave when she got pregnant.  Her husband is a mechanic and supports her on every one of her projects.

For four years Kenia has been involved in scenery decoration for all kinds of events and she also does acrylic nails from her locale.  For the decoration activity she has the support of her husband and an employee.

Kenia is applying for her first Kiva loan to buy balloons, articifial flowers and a nail lamp.  Her goal is to expand, handle more events, generate employment and start a casual clothing business.

In the department of San Marcos there are eight women who make up the Mujeres de Buena Fue Malacatan Group who receive the benefits of the Micro-loan Plus program which is part of the Friendship Bridge.  They acquire knowledge about how to manage a business, over-indebtedness and avoiding signing loans for others.  These matters benefit businesses such as tortilla sales, convenience store, flower sales, food, beauty services and decoration.

Kenia shares: "Thank you, Kiva lenders, for supporting visionary women like myself.".

In this group: Juana, Sherly Viviana , Kenia Mariela , Gaby Faviola, Consuelo Edilbeth , Olivia Mirtala , Suly Isabel , Gaby Nayeli
